I’m a 20-something Californian residing in Washington, DC . This blog is all about gallivanting around the world, but I often throw in some local dish too – DC is a wonderfully exciting city after all. I'm laid-back, sarcastic, spontaneous and can get hyperbolic at times.
My college years were spent as a Duck at the University of Oregon (Go Ducks!), where, between positions in Student Government, the Bookstore Board of Directors, blah, blah, blah and earning a degree from the School of Journalism blah, blah, blah, I basically lived on campus. (Which actually rocked because all of my apartments bordered on uninhabitable. Seriously though, most hostels put those dumps to shame).
My day job focuses primarily on Broadcast Marketing and Non-profit Communications and while I find both interesting and fulfilling, I get my kicks from packing my bags.
As a kid, my family took long car trips all over the country and tended to move every few years. (Foreshadowing later behaviors for sure!) My first international experience was heading across the border to Mexico while we lived for a stint in Tucson, Arizona. Chile was my first passport required destination and after that, the world opened up.
Between traveling to over 30 countries and living in Denmark for a time, I’ve come to realize that the “real world” is really the “whole world” and that to live in any part of it means to explore all of it.
I’ll try just about anything once and believe in the philosophy that collecting experiences is a far greater goal than collecting things.
